About Amanda
Amanda comes from a background of music and performing arts and has lived in Devon since 1998. After successfully achieving qualifications in Music and Technology and Sound Engineering.
Amanda went on to work as Community Arts Coordinator at a local arts college, where she gained local and national recognition for her pioneering approaches in delivering art based community initiatives. In addition, she gained certificates in Management and Arts Leadership as well as developing her knowledge of film production. Her interest in filmmaking allowed Amanda to deploy her talent in supporting student learning and college activities. This resulted in achieving several film awards, as well as making a series of films for NCSL (National College of School Leadership).
Amanda took the plunge in becoming a freelance filmmaker in 2006 and after a successful couple of years working with a wide range of organizations, including RiO (Real Ideas Organization) The Youth Service and the Princes Trust, Amanda has decided to extend her own learning and has recently completed her BA (Hons) in Film Arts at Plymouth College of Art. During this time Amanda has won several film commissions, including ‘Devonport Voices’ and has seen several of her films premiered at Raindance Film Festival, London, achieving the award for ‘Contribution to Independent Film’ in 2009.
Amanda has continued to build her freelance business ‘Fireapple Media’ with her business partner Mike Leech.
