SX51:56
Underneath the Roaring Carousel
Synopsis
A place gradually reveals itself to be more complex than we had previously imagined.
Its character is one of movement and contrast.
Above our heads the relentless drone of daily life,
while beneath and surrounding us are imprints and haunting echoes which evoke an understanding of the nature of transience.
An experimental film as part of a college assignment, SX51:56 looks at the personality of the area around the flyover at Marsh Mills.
Filming using Super 8, the film was then projected back onto the architecture and environment of the area, creating a multi-layered and rather interesting final film.
The soundscape has been designed to replicate the sounds present as well as experimenting using 'The Katherine Norman' technique. (Making the voice sound like the object it's describing)
